Notes: The relative misperception index is computed according to Eq. 2 (i.e., the difference between (log) perceived unemployment rate and (log) actual unemployment rate in the country); its absolute value is the regressor in line 1; in line 2, it is interacted with a dummy variable equal to one if the relative misperception index is negative and zero otherwise. The computations use ESS post-stratification weights combined with population size weights. Robust standard errors are in parenthesis.
